Disaster Relief Project for Nepal Earthquake victims – May 2015

Where many Blood donation camps, Flash mobs, Street talent shows, Awareness camps and walkathons were being organized to raise funds for Nepal. Collected INR 1, 00, 000 and sent the same to PM National Relief Fund). (Organized various awareness camps and lectures on natural disasters and promoting SDGs. 11, 13 and 15. An impact was created among 100 youngsters who have come forward to support the mission of UN SDGs and joined my Organization as Volunteers.

 
 

Andhra University Youth Model Parliament – June 2015

One day national level model parliament was held for the first time where many school and colleges students have participated and showcased their interest towards policy making and parliamentary procedures. Events like these would enable social and political awakening among the youth and help the generation understand the vitality of a law making body. Col. Prof. GSN Raju, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor-A.U, Mr. Avanthi Srinivas,M.P-Anakapalle, Dr. Prasanna Kumar, DirectorPolicy Studies, Prof. P. Premanandam, HOD-Politics and Public Administration, A.U were the distinguished guests, who have torched the young minds in the sphere of social sciences at the program.

United Nations International Youth Day- August 2015

It was an event which made our entire team engineer the planning of the event for weeks and finally ends up with a One day International seminar, which is indeed our very first major step. Wide range of speakers from across the country who are distinctive at their respective fields have attended the program. Dr. Jayaprakash Narayan IAS Former District Collector and Founder Lok Satta Party, Mr. Rajiv Chandra,UN Officer, Cmdr. Srikanth Kesnur, Director-NMC, Indian Navy, Prof. Johnny Joseph, Christ University were among the distinguished speakers. Students from various fields have participated in the program experienced various guest lectures and competitions. The main theme was “Youth in Civic Engagement”. This broad concept made the participants to express their ideologies on youth and development.

 
 

Beach cleaning camp – October 2015

In collaboration with Young India Fraternity, an NGO formed by youth have organized a bleach cleaning camp across R.K beach to promoting ‘SDG 13 and 15 and also to signify the Swachh Bharat Mission of the Government of India.

 

Seminar on Ten years of RTI- October 2015

It’s a joint event in collaboration with Samalochana, an NGO based in Anakapalle led by Mr. Chakradhar, eminent social worker on tribes and RTI Activist. This event was a small initiation where around 50 people participated in the discussions led by Mr. EAS Sarma IAS and other senior RTI Activists.

 
 

UN Day – October 2015

For the very first time a Walk was organized to observe the formation of United Nations. This program was duly organized in collaboration with UNIC, New Delhi and the main agenda to host the event is to spread awareness on ‘No war But Peace’ agenda and commemorate great souls of World War. Many students have participated in the event and series of lectures were given by Mr. Stephen Anurag. P, Founder-President, Yes We Can at Victory at Sea, Beach Road, Visakhapatnam.

 

Empower and Enlighten project -December 2015

Various competitions like debates, essay writing, paintings, and quiz are held at many schools and colleges on several contemporary social issues. This would help students understand various local and global issues.

 
 

Coordination with VUDA for Visakha Utsav programme- January 2016

In collaboration with VUDA, YWC led volunteer services and other organizing support for Visakha Utsav, a cultural program held by the Government of Andhra Pradesh for three days, which included Rangoli competitions, Kite festival, Cultural shows at Vuda park, Guest speeches, award winning performances and presentations at the RK beach. Witnessed by Sri. N. Chandra Babu Naidu, Hon’ble Chief Minister of A.P

 

Volunteer host for International Navy Fleet Review 2016, hosted by Indian Navy in Visakhapatnam

We rendered our volunteer services to Indian Navy in hosting IFR Village and Maritime Exhibition for 10 days at AU grounds. Security management, VIP and guests ushering, Stalls monitoring, Cultural coordination were the tasks accomplished during this unique project. AP CM, Governor, PM of India and the Heads of Indian Navy witnessed our services at the venue.

 
 

National Youth Parliament – June 2016

It is second time programme of YWC, where the youth from various sections of society are brought together in a common platform and were educated on the legislation process of the government and gave an exposure of the laws and working of the government. Nearly 250 young students participated in the programme and made model laws on ‘youth affairs’, ‘tribal affairs’ and ‘international trade’. This creates an impact among the students to understand and analyze the importance and need for a law and the legislation process.

 

UN International Friendship Day- July 2016

Nearly 250 youth participated in a walk marathon across the beach road in the city of Visakhapatnam promoting the theme of international understanding and international cooperation for a sustainable and healthy living. SDGs were highlighted during this march and interestingly, a former UN Peacekeeping Officer (Kosovo mission in 2000) Mr. Raghuveer Vishnu and Mr. Rajiv Chandran, UNIC Official participated in this campaign which was led by YWC Team.

 
 

UN International Youth Day- August 2016

Organized UN IYD for the second time to promote the 17 SDGs mainly highlighting the concept of Youth Civic Engagement in taking forward the Global Agenda 2030 for a sustainable world mainly highlighting the SDG ‘quality education’. This programme was organized in collaboration with United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan, New Delhi.

 

Coordinated for 3rd BRICS Summit in Visakhapatnam- September 2016

Yes We Can assisted the Department of Tourism, Gov of AP in hosting the delegates of the five countries and have exposed them the native culture of the city and described them about the sustainable development activities that the Organization is working out.

 
 

Observance of World Tourism Day- September 2016

Yes We Can in collaboration with AP Tourism celebrated World Tourism Day 2016 organized by Department of Tourism, Government of Andhra Pradesh (To promote the mission of Universal Accessibility). Nearly 100 youngsters have taken part in this unique campaign which was held for the first time in the state by creating an impact on the policy making of ‘accessible cities’ in India. Seminars and Special talks were also held at various schools and colleges to make students aware on the theme ‘Universal Accessibility’.

 

Establishment of UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Laboratory- October 2016

Promoting the concept of ‘Empower and Enlighten’ at Visakha Valley School in Visakhapatnam, which enabled nearly 1000 students have participated and created an impact by understanding the 17 Goals of the UN and making them aware to the rest of the region through writing articles and hosting an exhibition competition on the 17 SDGs.

 
 

Chevening Scholarship Workshop- October 2016

Chevening Scholarship, a prestigious UK Government fund to students and youngsters who wish to pursue higher education and special courses on various sustainable development activities both economic and social were promoted by YWC in Vizag at GVP College in Kommadi. This programme was organized in collaboration with British Deputy High Commission Hyderabad.

 

Host for Great Britain Debate- December 2016

To educate the youth on current global problems and create a global competence and consciousness the British Deputy High Commission, Hyderabad has organized Great Debate in Visakhapatnam, where 150 young students from various colleges have participated and shared their views and involved in dialogue exchange with various guests.

 
 

Traffic Education project- January 2017

A mission to promote UN Global Road Safety Decade 2011-2020, nearly 15 volunteers have been participating in this project to educate the people of the city of Visakhapatnam on the importance of life and how can one be a true citizen by following the traffic rules and respecting the lives of others.

 

National Academic Research Conference on International Women's Day – March 2017

Promoting the theme 'Gender Equality' and 'Partnerships for the Goals' in collaboration with United Nations Information Centre for India and Bhutan, New Delhi, we have Organized the first National Conference in Guntur, where 150 delegates which include professors, social activists, educationalists, journalists, research scholars, and students etc from across the country have participated in this seminar and have shared their academic exposure and dialogues resulting in a book compiled with nearly 30 articles written about ‘gender equality’, ‘quality education’ and ‘partnerships for the goals’.
